I had no idea where my lost super was or the names of the funds. I just new it was scattered everywhere and I should definitely have more than $3,000 in my super. Australian Super Finder found all 7 of my funds and now my balance is almost $50,000. Thank you so much for getting my super back on track. ? Leonie, Thomastown VIC

Super Facts and Tips

Hybrid Super Fund

A hybrid fund is a superannuation fund that provides both defined accumulated and benefit interests.

The contributions paid to an accumulated component of a super interest are counted toward the proper contributions caps. These contributions have been paid for defined benefit interests are calculated, according to whether the interest is unfunded or funded:

Unfunded specified benefits - concessional (before-tax) contributions arenít attributable to a member of this account (refer previous discussion on unfunded defined benefit superannuation funds).

Funded specified benefits Ė concessional (before-tax) contributions, such as notional contributions, salary sacrifice quantities and performance payments, count toward the concessional contributions cap (refer previous discussion on funded specified benefit super funds).

Non-concessional (after-tax) contributions paid to an unfunded benefit scheme, or a funded defined benefit plan, or an accumulation account, count toward a personís non-concessional cap.

CPSF (Constitutionally Secured Super Funds)

The Australian Taxation Office said that concessional (before-tax) contributions paid to a CPSF werenít counted toward your concessional contributions cap. The concessional contributions of an employer made to a CPSF arenít counted to an individualís concessional contributions cap, as well as salary sacrificed contributions paid to a CPSF count as concessional (before-tax) contributions cap.

The non-concessional or after-tax contributions that were paid to a CPSF count toward an individualís non-concessional contributions cap.
