Testimonials

I had no idea where my lost super was or the names of the funds. I just new it was scattered everywhere and I should definitely have more than $3,000 in my super. Australian Super Finder found all 7 of my funds and now my balance is almost $50,000. Thank you so much for getting my super back on track. ? Leonie, Thomastown VIC

Finding and Consolidating Super

Finding Lost and Unclaimed Super

This was comprised just over 6 million lost as well as ATO-held accounts.

Could a portion of this cash be yours? If you have ever changed your name, address or job, you could be wealthier than you imagine, and have unclaimed or some lost super just waiting to be located.

Are you aware that all superfunds are obliged to transfer the lost accounts to the Australian Taxation Office? The super fund will usually report a member as lost if:
• they haven’t been able to get in touch with a member
• they haven’t received any rollover amounts or contributions in the last 5 years
• the account was moved from another super fund as a lost-member account and new address has not been found.

Unclaimed Super

“Unclaimed super” (not the same as lost super) refers to super that’s entitled to be taken from the super fund, however the super fund is not able to communicate with you. Unclaimed super could include the superannuation of:
• aged over 65 fund members
• deceased members
• non-member spouses
• former impermanent residents
• members with small/insoluble lost member account.

Usually, unclaimed super needs to be notified to the Australian Taxation Office by super funds two times yearly, and whichever unclaimed superannuation money is settled to the ATO. A few state as well as territory public service superannuation schemes may need to settle any unclaimed super money to the State or Territory Government, however the cash still need to be reported as unclaimed to the Australian Taxation Office.
